Jon Weiman and Torey Kohara met at university in 2005 and started making documentaries together. Since then, they've shot around the world, picked up a few Cannes Lions, and shared sets with people they grew up watching on television. Twenty years later, they're still directing together, side by side.
One afternoon, riding a Toronto streetcar, they struck up a friendship with a man who had recently discovered that the seaside town he'd lived in his entire life was an elaborate television set. His wife, friends, and neighbors were all actors, and every moment of his life had been broadcast to millions without his knowledge. They’ve spent the last 20 years comparing notes about that day.
